Measuring Guide: How to Measure For a Bed Skirt
Bed skirts — also referred to as dust ruffles — are an easy way to add extra elegance to your bedroom, as well as manage dust and hide the uncomely box spring and under-the-bed storage. Here’s how to choose the right size bed skirt for your own bed:
Measure your bed’s width x length
A bed skirt should be the same width and length as your box spring/bed frame and is very similar or equal to the dimensions of a fitted sheet. However, you can always double check to ensure the bed skirt hangs correctly — remove the mattress and using a fabric measuring tape measure from left to right to determine the box spring width, and from the head of the bed to the foot of the bed to determine its length.
Measure the bed skirt drop
The drop determines the vertical distance from the top of the box spring to the floor. Take a couple of measurements around different sides of the box spring/bed frame just in case the floor is not level. Depending on the look you want to achieve, you can go for a slightly smaller drop (reduce the height by 1 inch) or make the bed skirt “kiss” the floor.
Find the right size for you
Our bed skirts cover three sides of the bed and come at a set drop of 19 inches (48 cm), which is included in the dimensions listed in the size chart. If you need a custom size or want to buy a two-sided or a four-sided bed skirt, contact us and we’ll make it for you!
