MagicLinen Empowers Future Leaders: Supporting Girls in Sustainability Initiative
As you may know, at MagicLinen, we've always shared our success with those who need it most in life. In the past, we've initiated various projects, such as fulfilling Christmas wishes for children from socially disadvantaged families or donating to the organizations like Girls Who Code. Last year, we decided to dedicate our support to the wonderful Future Heroes initiative.
Future Heroes initiative is based in Lithuania, Europe, the country where all our magic products are made. It's a leadership and entrepreneurship program for girls aged 14-17 to unlock their potential and create a positive impact in the world. During this six-month program, girls participate in different themed workshops focused on project management from idea to investor search and implementation. They get to test their strengths, enhance their life skills, and build sisterhood, supported by mentors. Girls are given a unique opportunity to start their first business and create a career path for themselves.
The emphasis is placed on girls from the region - smaller towns and villages. Half of the girls participating in the project are from ethnic minority groups, also socially disadvantaged families.
MagicLinen fully supported a course for a team of 6 girls who called themselves Green Hearts. During the course, the girls have learned project management skills and created a sustainability-oriented project. The project aims to develop an app that educates and encourages people to sort waste, use natural resources wisely, and cultivate an ecological mindset and a sense of community among people. The goal is to create an app where everyone can easily access information about eco-activities and solutions to eco-problems.
This April, the girls participated in a final pitch event where they met 10 other groups from the Future Heroes project. During this event, the team had to pitch the project to an investor-jury group consisting of 9 people from various business spheres. Our founder, Vita Murauskiene, also participated in the jury group, evaluating the teams. Although our team was nervous to present, they did exceptionally well and received lots of applause. Their dedication to the planet and sustainability touched the hearts of the jury.
The final results, stating which team won the pitch event, will be announced on May 10. Although MagicLinen wishes our team Green Hearts to win, we believe that this is not essential. The true value lies in the knowledge that the girls gained - the tools for life, and we hope they use them in the future.
