How to Measure Your Couch for a Couch Cover

Couch covers are just the most versatile thing ever, right? They protect the sofas from all kinds of stains or spills and, what is more, they can give your couch a completely new look! Linen couch covers especially are very easy to take care of and can give your room that breezy and effortless look.

A more difficult question is how to pick the right size sofa cover. The couch cover comes in a shape of a rectangle, so the two necessary measurements are the width and the length.

To calculate the width of your couch cover, add the following measurements:

• The height of the armrest (the space between the floor and the top of the armrest):  #1
• The width of the armrest: #2
• The space between the armrest and couch cushion (sitting area): #3
• The length of the sitting area (the space that is designated for sitting): #4
• The space between the armrest and couch cushion (sitting area): #3
• The width of the armrest: #2
• The height of the armrest (the space between the floor and the top of the armrest): #1

To sum it up, you need to add the height of the armrest twice, the width of the armrest twice, the space between the armrest and couch cushion twice, and the length of the sitting area. Basically, you need to add all the measurements that would go horizontally.

To calculate the length of your couch cover, add the following measurements:

• The space from the floor to the top of the sitting area: #5
• The depth of the sitting area: #6
• The height of the backrest cushions: #7
• The space between the backrest cushions and the back panel #8
• The height of the back panel (the space between the top of the back panel to the floor): #9

These are all the measurements that would go vertically.

It’s also important to mention that if you want your sofa cover to be a bit drapey, be sure to add some extra centimeters or inches to your final measurements.
